10 May 2011 -- Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) has agreed with several Hollywood studios to offer their films for rent in the US through its online video sharing website YouTube, the Financial Times reported.
With the current deal, YouTube will add about 3,000 new titles from film producers like Warner Brothers, NBC Universal and Sony Pictures Entertainment to its film rental catalogue.

Users spend 15 minutes daily on YouTube's website on the average against five hours in front of the TV, but this is going to change, Salar Kamangar, head of YouTube, commented.

At the same time, Hollywood film makers have become more likely to ink deals with websites after sales of DVDs, which used to be a key generator of profits, collapsed.
