Qld: Partygoesr warned about drink spiking
Partygoers are being warned to take care after a spate of suspected drink spiking in
at least two Brisbane nightclubs.
Police are investigating several cases of suspected drink spiking after several women
needed hospital treatment overnight.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesman say two 19-year-old women were taken to the Royal
Brisbane Hospital after complaining of drowsiness at an inner-city night club.
Two hours later another young woman, who was at a different night club, was taken to
hospital complaining of similar symptoms.
There are unconfirmed reports that another two women were also taken to hospital.
Police say officers are waiting for toxicology reports.
Queensland Drug and Alcohol Foundation chief executive officer BOB ALDRED says while
spiking didn't appear to be endemic, it is occurring on a frequent basis.
Mr ALFRED says it is happening too frequently not to warn people to be very, very careful.
